Why Preventive Maintenance Matters
Gearbox issues often begin with increased noise, abnormal temperature, oil leakage or vibration changes. Periodic inspection and data records allow service before a fault grows.
Four Basic Checks
- Verify oil grade, level and contamination.
- Record bearing and housing temperature.
- Observe vibration, noise and output shaft condition.
- Inspect seals, fasteners and the foundation.
Extending Service Life
Avoid overload, repeated shock and incorrect lubrication. Set oil change intervals for the actual duty and check coupling alignment during service.
