Heavy-Duty Gearbox Selection Logic
A heavy-duty gearbox must withstand high torque and complex shocks over long operating cycles. Do not size it by motor power alone; consider output torque, ratio, duty time, starts, shock level and ambient temperature.
Service Factor
The service factor reflects the difference between real and nominal duty. Conveyors, lifting equipment and metallurgy applications often require a higher factor and verification of axial and radial loads.
Mounting and Maintenance
Horizontal, vertical, flange and shaft-mounted configurations affect lubrication, sealing and service access. Correct oil selection, vibration monitoring and temperature checks extend gearbox life.
